Unec
The Unec (18kilometers) with its valley is one of the beautiful rock areas in Europe. Wooden hills cover the valley. Attractive and unique trees and bushes grow at the banks. In June, flower meadows are a celebration of blossoms and the attentive observer can see various kinds of lilies. There are no power lines in the valley so you can enjoy an intact landscape.

This river is extraordinary! Just as the angler is just surprised by the deep water, in the next moment the Unec will flow gently over bright gravel and green water plants. You also need to visit the Unec springs. The fast and high waters Malenscica and Pivka, streaming strongly out of rock clefts, are matchless spectacles. No less interesting is the seepage of the Unec at the steep and wooded valley. During the time that the snow melts, the river often floods and changes the whole valley into a lake—a banquet for all fish. Until the aeschen were brought to Unec in 1955, the river was famous for the bach trout. Today aesche is the main fish but bach trout is also growing. The size and stock of the aeschen are unique in Europe. The intact ground of the river is full of life. At no other Slovenian water exist so many water insects, especially the May fly, koecherfliegen and stone flies that swarm in the evening. The Unec is truly a unique river and we know that this has to be saved for following generations.
