Trögerner Bach

The Trögener Bach is a tributary of the Vellach and located in a national preservation area. The upper Vellach has the character of a mountain river in a wonderful landscape. You often have to climb down the rocks to reach the water and cast the flies carefully. If you like climbing and hunting you will enjoy this unique kind of mountain fishing.

In the middle of the Karawanken, under the summit of the Obir (2,142 meters) rises a river. The visitor will enjoy the light green water and the wonderful landscape. This river is called Vellach, my “homeland”. Although the Vellach is a rocky and wild river, many eintagskoecherfliegen and stone flies live there. The stock of bach- and regenbogen trout and aeschen is great. The Koppe completes the menu of the salmonides. I will personally and individually show every one of my guests the character of this water. Only early in the morning and late in the evening will you have a great catch with dry flies. Also nymphen is a good bait in the Vellach. Since the fish stair was built, the stock of aeschen and huchen is growing. If the waterlevel is high you will catch one of the big Donau salmon. The thrill wil be unforgettable. By lower water level in the Vellach it’s easy to fish only with boots. Thin and breathable rubber pants are suitable in summer. You can reach the most of the 29 kilometer-long area over shores and forest paths.
