Sava

The Sava Bohinjka, a beautiful alpine river, rises in Bohinjsko Jezero – Wocheiner lake. First the water is just running through a canyon to join the Sava Dolinka at Radovljica—over a 125-kilometer Fishing distance! As in alpine rivers, you find bach- and regenbogen trout and aeschen. Also koppen and other whitefish are found here. The natural ground offers fish a great abundance of water insects and other food. The water level of the lake is constant due to the high elevation.

Perhaps it is because the stock of fish is very good that many anglers stay only at the Sava. Fishing changes with the various seasons. In colder months you are better off going to the silent places and fishing with nymphen, wet flies or streamer. In the second half of June the fish are very active and you will easily see them in the water. Finding the right place to fish is not difficult. But in summer and autumn fish are more careful and you have to catch them with quick casts.
